Your Summer Occasion Dress

Social season is here! Baby showers, bridal showers, graduations, communions, wedding, birthdays, and the list goes on. Not all the time, but most times women tend to go for a dress in weather like this when stepping out. I've got your dress!

Now don't be snooty about it - and this is coming from bougie V.V. herself - it's from Old Navy! I know what you're thinking.....I think that way a lot of times too but hear me out. lol

I saw this dress on the ON website and I was immediately taken with it.  The pastel floral print was so pretty. I figured, maybe I could wear this as a quick throw on. I purchased it.
It came in the mail and I was pleasantly shocked by the quality and feel of the dress. It is really beautiful! Fully lined, it's got some weight to it and its very soft and silky and flowy and again the pattern is really gorgeous for this time of year.

I decided not to make this a "throw on" dress but a straight up dress! I wore it to my best friend's birthday BBQ and I got nice compliments on it and I kept saying "It's Old Navy!" because it's just too good of a thing not to share. Don't waste this dress on a trip to Stop and Shop! THIS is your next occasion dress.

Quick note: It runs big, size down.

Peachy Keen, Jelly Bean!

Memorial Day....the unofficial start of Summer. Luckily for me, yesterday was cool enough for me to sneak a jacket in one more time! I LIVE for jackets. I love them. Denim jackets, field jackets, utility jackets, moto jackets, etc. The perfect layering piece that pulls an outfit together with some style. It's that in between freezing and sweating that you can really get creative when getting dressed.

So before we say goodbye to the jackets until October, I decided to layer this peachy beauty over a crisp white tee, boyfriend jeans and converse for a "no fuss but still pulled together" casual look for a family bbq in a shady backyard with a very strong breeze that required some layering...naturally. ;)

I also thought it would be fun to wear these black and pastel floral print sunglasses I bought last year that I haven't yet worn to tie it all in.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

Anyone doing a little shopping in between barbecuin' and beachin'?
I wanted to share some things I'm really enjoying right now. Maybe it'll inspire you to scoop up one or two items.

First of all, this top picture is driving me CRAZY. I did everything under the sun to rotate it properly and it refuses to cooperate but guess what? Keep calm and blog on!

When I saw this on display at Nordstrom, I thought it was new.
My friend Kristina educated me on the fact that it's not new -  but reintroduced!!
Anyway, I stopped to smell it and I was blown away completely. The smell is Spring in a bottle. There's no other way to describe it. It was intoxicating. I had to have it - a bit pricey so I decided to sleep on it. I couldn't stop smelling my arm all night. The next morning I went for my coat and got another whiff of it lingering.....HAD TO HAVE IT. Glad I got it. You will be too!

Lighter and sweeter than the original Stella by Stella McCartney.
Gorgeous, sophisticated and a drop more playful. Also, this has some serious staying power. I can smell it on myself at the end of the night from spritzing at 7:00am!

I am just about out of my Nars Laguna Bronzer and thank goodness because this product couldn't have come at a better time. I find that it is a bronzer and highlighter in one!
It is so beautiful on the face. Not heavy at all, not orange, not too dark (they have a darker color for deeper skin tones) and very glowy! Yes, that's a word. :)
This, like the other Hourglass products I have grown to love, is a smash hit.
Shout out to my friend Kelly who I know is loving this item as well right now!
I might not return to Laguna........the bronzer, I mean. lol

Marc claims "High Shine"....and he is a man of his word. I have A LOT of lip gloss and to this day,  literally, nothing  I own outshines this lip gloss. You couldn't get a better shine if you dipped your lips in honey! Very light, not thick and gooey. I got the color "Pink Steam".
This is the first Marc Jacobs Beauty product I purchased - now I'm on a rampage - I want em' all!

I have naturally pink cheeks and I find that most colors don't show up very much when I apply them. Sometimes, I would prefer more than a wash of color. Sometimes I want POW! I enjoy a nice pigmented blush. This product is exactly that. Amazing. It's limited edition. If I ever run out, I might cry.

I don't wear foundation really so I don't have a need for the big beauty blender. I have gotten back into my concealer routine (which is Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Moisturizer, Bobbi Brown Corrector and Dior Star Concealer) and this product is perfect for the job! It's small enough for the corners of  your eyes and  if you use it damp, it helps not to cake on the concealer and make it look natural. Much like the big beautyblender would do for your face.

It's been a good month for products! I hope I don't discover or fall in love with anything new this month....how am I supposed to pay my rent?!

Thanks for reading....... let's just say I'm a girl with great taste but a baaaaad influence!

Link me some of YOUR favorites in the comments section!

LWD!

Sometimes I'm soft....sometimes I'm tough! And that's what this outfit represents....even though it didn't start off with that intent - just so happened to work out that way!

I paired this sweet eyelet dress with a utility jacket, leather accents and chunky gold jewelry to give it some edge.
I think a white dress is just as vital as an LBD (Little Black Dress) in your wardrobe must haves.  You can basically do anything with it. The last time I wore this dress, I went glam:

You can wear a white dress all year long - the possibilities are endless. The rules of no white before/after Labor Day are long gone!

Invest in an LWD. It will pay for itself time and time again!
