Is this thing on? Been quite a while! I miss blogging so much - things have changed a bit in life as they always do and I no longer have my photographer (my husband!) to help me take pictures in the mornings like he used to. Conflicting schedules. It's been really hard to capture some of the stuff I've been wearing and buying in the recent months but TODAY my trusty assistant was on hand!
So lets chat for a minute! I am LOVING J.Crew. They have some standout pieces this year that are classic and chic. You spend a few bucks but you'll have them for years to come.
I have been purchasing their thin knits (that come in a SICK array of colors might I add!) which work for me all year long , this gorgeous cape trench that I am featuring today, an awesome chambray dress I haven't popped the tags off of yet and this clean, striped menswear inspired button down also featured today.
I enjoy all kinds of fun looks when it comes to trends and fashion. I like stepping out of my box and doing different things but in general, my go to and very favorite way to dress is classic. Trench coats, button downs, neutrals, thin knits, sheath dresses -the staples.
While it might not necessarily be everyone's style - a few classics in your wardrobe will set you up to look amazing - even when you don't want to try. A few of my favorite stores that really feed my classic soul: J.Crew, Banana republic, Gap and LOFT.
Some things we should generally have in our closet:
- a quality black dress
- a blazer
- a thin knit sweater you can throw on in July at night or January under a coat
- a crisp white button down
- a great pair of go to jeans
- a pair of comfortable flats or boots
- a nice jacket/ coat. A solid color - perhaps with some detail such as an exaggerated collar, maybe gold buttons or even a military inspired look.
- Sunglasses! I can't even stress to you enough how much a great pair of sunglasses can elevate you INSTANTLY! Sweatpants, no makeup or totally glammed up. Please keep in mind, sunglasses are not just for warm weather. The sun shines ALL.YEAR.LONG.
Annnnnnd less squinting promotes less wrinkles. Need I say more?!
While the weather is still mild - I took advantage and wore my cape trench one more time before I put it in the back of my closet until October. :(
Check out the look and links:
This look below is from a few weeks ago on a rainy Friday. I went very relaxed with a top knot, t -shirt, jeans and converse sneakers. You can dress any trench up or down depending on how you style it. I would say it's a versatile piece you'll use most of the year.
J.Crew Cape Trench
J. Crew Perfect Striped Linen Shirt
Sole Society Booties
Fossil Watch (Yep! a Fossil. I really love their new stuff - I'm a fan again!)
Ray-Ban original Aviator Sunglasses
I have missed this so much - hopefully I can get back to doing it much more regularly!
Thanks for reading again! xo
Pretty In Pink
It's no surprise that my favorite color is pink. All shades ranging from blush (hello?!) to hyper neon. While I do really enjoy so many beautiful colors, there's something about pink that makes me particularly happy. Flamingos, ice cream, cotton candy, lip gloss, glitter, my cheeks! It's my color!
Naturally, one would pair such a pastel color with warmer weather. But when Winter hits, I like to break out softer colors like white, blush, dove gray, camel, baby blue.....it's just pretty and airy and unexpected sometimes.
I had a night out with the girls this weekend and this is how I styled pink in January.

Fit-NESS!
This won't be one of those motivational/I love the gym blogs. Let me be clear: I HATE the gym. It is a necessary evil and I do it because it helps to counter my addiction to chocolate cake. Nothing more, nothing less.
I have come to notice this trend of bright, colorful clothing and sneakers at the gym. The women come in perfectly dressed with matching sweat bands and bags and water bottles lookin' all cute at 5:30am.....and here I am in boring black on most days. Well, no more! I told myself I too, would be snazzy and get my gym swag on also! I too, will one of those annoying, super matchy yet totally cute gym goers! For the New Year, I decided to step up my game and start to build my work out wardrobe. New kicks, new pants, a few tops......my motivation is suddenly growing.....figures it would take some shopping to give me that spark! ;) What I love so much about all the color, is these aren't colors I can normally wear at work or very often in my every day life. I like that I can wear neon, off the wall prints and fun patterns without having to be conservative. In this instance, the brighter, the better! Below are some of my recent purchases and my picks for new, fun gym gear! Now, break a sweat! Nike Ombre Sneakers Old Navy Compression dry fit pants (sold out) - Similar below!
